Every faithful mom was first a daughter, and the complexities of that relationship influence a woman’s choices and behavior into adulthood, even to future generations. In this intimate collection of essays, Faithful Daughter transparently illustrates the shared struggles of daughters everywhere in stories that are sweet, angry, funny, and sad. As the authors—who include New York Times bestselling novelists, a Poet Laureate, journalists, professors, a noted chef, and popular bloggers—search their relationships with their moms. Their heartfelt, sometimes raw remembrances beckon readers to lean in emotionally and consider their own history. The result is a beautifully written book that can be gifted to any faithful daughter longing to understand the inevitable imprint of the woman who gave her life.

My Mother stayed mostly silent. She arrived at my door when I miscarried. She perched a phone between her shoulder and ear to hear my cries. She didn't give advice. My mother practiced restraint, and in doing so, she loved me well.
